Sandwich Rolls for Lunch

sandwich rolls

There are so many options to put in your lunchbox! Just browse the web and you’ll see! I myself have spent much time exploring all the options but sometimes it is ok to just pack a sandwich! Let’s face it, this is a tried and true simple lunch solution, right? One that tends to satisfy both kids and adults alike! It doesn’t take much thought and it is something most of us have in the kitchen!

My new Lunchbots Cinco did get me thinking however, how can I pack an entire sandwich in one compartment? My solution? The sandwich roll! Yes, that compartment contains 2 slices of bread, 2 slices of turkey, spinach/arugula lettuce mix and a little mayo. I used a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread, spread each with mayo, layered with turkey and lettuce, rolled each up and slice into thirds. My sandwich now fits perfectly into one compartment. You could cut the crust off and spend time making your rolls a little neater if you like! I just kept it simple!

This lunch also contains organic baby carrots, blackberries and strawberries, a mandarin orange (aka a “halo”) and gluten-free Snyder’s brand pretzels. My bread here does contain gluten so this lunch is not gluten-free. We do however tend to have an abundance of gluten-free snacks in the house for my youngest who is gluten intolerant.

Sincerely,
Deb

gourmet lunch in lunchbots cinco gluten free

Since my Lunchbots Cinco arrived I have been spoiling myself with fancy lunches! Now I’m not going to lie, clearly I enjoy packing lunch so “fancy” isn’t really a stretch for me! To be perfectly honest I find preparing food quite relaxing and it doesn’t take much to get me to kick it up a notch! It is a great creative distraction that gives me instant gratification.

Today’s gluten-free lunch contains:

  • A salad of steamed asparagus, strawberries and feta cheese
  • Orange and pink grapefruit wedges halved
  • Celebration Medley Trail Mix by Second Nature (view allergen policies here)
  • Perdue Honey Roasted Chicken Shortcuts
  • Salad dressing pictured in Lunchbots Dips Condiment Container (chose your favorite)

How do you feel about packing lunch?

Sincerely,
Deb

5 Reasons to Love the New Lunchbots Cinco

Friday, April 4th, 2014

 work lunch in lunchbots cinch

I am a definite fan of Lunchbots containers. As a matter of fact, I own 4 of these containers in various configurations. It would be 5 but unfortunately one of my sons lost a lunch one day and along with it my container. So when I discovered that Lunchbots recently released several new containers I thought, now is the time to make it 5 again. It is only fitting that it would be the Cinco, right? You bet I hopped online and ordered one!

Late last week I discovered the package by my garage door. I knew instantly what it was and could not wait to check it out! You see, I was just going crazy with curiosity to see the new larger containers! Now that I have had a chance to use it I am happy to report the 5 reasons I love the Lunchbots Cinco!

1. It is 60% bigger!
It is large, 60% larger than the previous Lunchbots containers! This lunchbox holds a lot! So whether you have a hearty appetite or are packing to sustain you throughout the day, this lunchbox will have you covered.

2. More compartments, more variety!
Five whole compartments! Your head will spin with all the thoughts of what you could pack! If you are or have a picky eater then the Cinco will do the job keeping everything separate! OR there are so many other things that extra compartment can be used for! Need an extra compartment to hold your dip or sauce container? Yep! Want to pack a cloth napkin? Yep! Want to pack a small treat? Yep! Condiment packages? Yep! Lunch box note? Yep!

3. It is still dishwasher safe!
The fully stainless steel container and lid can both go through the dishwasher cycle with no problem. This is awesome because none of us need another hand wash only item, right?

4. It is still made of durable, re-usable Stainless Steel!
You will be able to use this container endlessly! I can attest to the durability of the Lunchbots based upon my use of their other containers! The stainless steel also assures us that we need not be concerned about BPA or phthalates leaching into our food.

5. So stylish!
So grown-up but it works for kids too! For work, play or anywhere in between the Cinco is the perfect food companion. I think you could put just about anything in the shiny stainless steel compartments and it will look good!

NOTE: The Cinco is not watertight and is best used with dry foods unless you can assure the container stays upright!

What’s for lunch? The lunch pictured in this post contains:

  • Caprese salad with just a splash of olive oil and balsamic
  • Boneless BBQ Chicken on spinach (yes, we eat it cold)
  • Cucumber slices
  • Minneola Orange wedges
  • Pecan and dried fruit mix

Finally do note that although I have been fortunate to work with Lunchbots in past times, I purchased this container at the full retail of $27.99. I know it will be worth every penny! All opinions expressed are my own and I was not compensated in any way for this post!

Sincerely,
Deb
