5 Reasons to Love the New Lunchbots Cinco

 work lunch in lunchbots cinch

I am a definite fan of Lunchbots containers. As a matter of fact, I own 4 of these containers in various configurations. It would be 5 but unfortunately one of my sons lost a lunch one day and along with it my container. So when I discovered that Lunchbots recently released several new containers I thought, now is the time to make it 5 again. It is only fitting that it would be the Cinco, right? You bet I hopped online and ordered one!

Late last week I discovered the package by my garage door. I knew instantly what it was and could not wait to check it out! You see, I was just going crazy with curiosity to see the new larger containers! Now that I have had a chance to use it I am happy to report the 5 reasons I love the Lunchbots Cinco!

1. It is 60% bigger!
It is large, 60% larger than the previous Lunchbots containers! This lunchbox holds a lot! So whether you have a hearty appetite or are packing to sustain you throughout the day, this lunchbox will have you covered.

2. More compartments, more variety!
Five whole compartments! Your head will spin with all the thoughts of what you could pack! If you are or have a picky eater then the Cinco will do the job keeping everything separate! OR there are so many other things that extra compartment can be used for! Need an extra compartment to hold your dip or sauce container? Yep! Want to pack a cloth napkin? Yep! Want to pack a small treat? Yep! Condiment packages? Yep! Lunch box note? Yep!

3. It is still dishwasher safe!
The fully stainless steel container and lid can both go through the dishwasher cycle with no problem. This is awesome because none of us need another hand wash only item, right?

4. It is still made of durable, re-usable Stainless Steel!
You will be able to use this container endlessly! I can attest to the durability of the Lunchbots based upon my use of their other containers! The stainless steel also assures us that we need not be concerned about BPA or phthalates leaching into our food.

5. So stylish!
So grown-up but it works for kids too! For work, play or anywhere in between the Cinco is the perfect food companion. I think you could put just about anything in the shiny stainless steel compartments and it will look good!

NOTE: The Cinco is not watertight and is best used with dry foods unless you can assure the container stays upright!

What’s for lunch? The lunch pictured in this post contains:

  • Caprese salad with just a splash of olive oil and balsamic
  • Boneless BBQ Chicken on spinach (yes, we eat it cold)
  • Cucumber slices
  • Minneola Orange wedges
  • Pecan and dried fruit mix

Finally do note that although I have been fortunate to work with Lunchbots in past times, I purchased this container at the full retail of $27.99. I know it will be worth every penny! All opinions expressed are my own and I was not compensated in any way for this post!

Fun to Eat Fruit Review

fun to eat fruit new

Don’t those smiling apple faces just make you happy? The fact that Fun to Eat Fruit is on a mission to encourage healthy eating habits for both children and adults makes ME happy. I just love that! Based right here in New Hampshire where I live and founded in 2007, Fun to Eat Fruit challenges us to be healthy snackers in a junk food world.

Fun to Eat Fruit can be ordered on their website and will be delivered right to your home in clear, reusable and recyclable plastic tubes. Shipped in pairs, each tube contains 4 pieces for a total of 8 pieces of fruit. Fruits may be apples, pears, nectarines or plums. Each month features a fun seasonal image such as a butterfly, baseball bat, turkey, leaf, clover, snowflake etc. Images are printed on fully washed, ready-to-eat fruits and the ink is made of 100% food-grade ingredients (FDA approved). All of this at a very reasonable cost of $12.00 plus shipping for 2 tubes. So snack freely, send some as a gift, pack some in your lunch or why not send one for the teacher? I could totally see giving away those jack-o-lantern fruits at a Halloween party! How fun!

Fruit images can also be customized! Consider giving Fun to Eat Fruit as a family gift, corporate gift or have some made for a special event. You could also use the fruits for advertising! Simply email them to discuss your image and pricing! Fruit is also available as organic upon request although at this time the image itself is not organic. The company is however working on that!

I was impressed with the quality of the fruit! It looked good, it tasted good and was fantastic packed in lunch! The company was also a pleasure to deal with communicating efficiently to let me know my order was on it’s way. Overall I found the fruit was great and their healthy eating message is both positive and refreshing! They made such an impression that my 4 year old nephew who was visiting spotted the smiling fruits on the counter and asked to have one! He ate it all! Yum!

Packed in a Laptop Lunches Bento Box this lunch contains:

  • Fun to Eat Apple sliced in half (check out Momables for tips to prevent apples from browning in your lunch boxes)
  • Cucumber slices
  • Broccoli
  • Ham, cheese and pretzel thin “sandwiches” (do note that pretzels will become chewier and bread-like by lunch time and are perfectly delicious this way, do pack “lunchables” style and build your own at lunch time if you prefer your pretzels crunchy)

Lunch 2.0 with Laptop Lunches! {A review}

laptop lunches review stop

I have wanted to try a Laptop Lunches Bento Lunch Box for quite some time. I have long admired their beautiful colors over on their website. You see I am an admitted color junky and perhaps I need therapy! Retail therapy that is! So I have acquired myself a new lunch box in some cool shades of blue, green and purple! I have got to be honest, it was hard to choose! These bento boxes come in a stunning array of gorgeous, saturated color! I figured back to school season was a good enough excuse to allow myself to concede to the color temptation and get one!

I chose the Bento Lunch Box 2.0 in Berry Blue. I have 3 boys and 1 girl so I wanted something unisex but it had to appeal to the boys since they will use it most. I think these colors fit that tall order pretty well. When the package arrived on my door step I was pretty excited to see it in person and the color does not disappoint. It’s not all about color though, is it? You may wonder about functionality and practicality, right? Alright, let’s talk a little about that if we must!

These boxes are safe! They are free from lead, BPA, phthalates, and PVC.

These boxes are eco-friendly! They are recyclable and reusable! You can also reduce waste by not using plastic baggies, cling wraps and foil!

These boxes are cost effective! What you invest in purchasing you will recoup in no time! Packing instead of buying out or at school SAVES! Stop buying expensive individual servings for lunch packing and use the portionable containers instead!

These boxes are easy to clean! You guessed it, dishwasher safe!

These boxes are very configurable! Some of the compartments are lidded allowing you to keep your leak-ables safe. You can remove heat up items easily for microwaving! You can keep food separated for picky eaters! You can change how the box looks – just for fun!

These boxes have the cool factor! Colorful, configurable with even space for utensils and cloth napkins. They are cool to see, cool to hold and cool to use! Not to mention there is an excellent selection of cool lunch bags available to suit your kiddo’s personality!

As you can see there are so many good features about this lunch box and I know I will use it often! A couple of things to consider when buying.

  • The outside box is a unique size at 9″ x 7″ x 2.25″ and does not fit into just any lunch bag. If you buy the Laptop Lunches cooler or a larger cooler this will NOT be an issue for you. I did not purchase the bag but surely will go back and do so.
  • The smaller lidded containers can be a challenge to open for little ones. Laptop Lunches does recommend putting a small amount of olive oil on the inside of the lid ridge to make this easier! Note you do not have to use the lids if your items are not leak-able! This is NOT an issue for me since my littles ones have teacher assistance at school.
  • There are a lot of components to the box and I could see a busy family losing track of some small items. Luckily Laptop Lunches DOES sell extras and replacements so no worries! Actually this allows you to expand your color choices OR have extras if no one did the dishes… hmmm but that never happens, right?

Now let’s talk about the lunches…

Lunch #1 (pictured at top) contains:

  • Cucumbers, red & yellow peppers
  • Ranch dressing in small container as veggie dip
  • strawberries and blackberries
  • peanut butter sandwiches
  • Pirate Brand Original Tings

Lunch #2 (pictured above) contains:

  • Roasted veggies (carrots, zucchini, asparagus)
  • Red grapes
  • BBQ chicken spinach salad
  • Ranch dressing for salad
  • Sweet potato sticks
